The Cape Coral Professional Fire Fighters and EMS of Lee County are partnering with Harley-Davidson of Fort Myers for an inaugural MDA poker run with a bike night after party on May 3.

Tim Clark, MDA event organizer and engineer paramedic for the Cape Coral Fire Department, said local firefighters have supported the MDA for the past 55 years. Firefighter continue to hold boot drives throughout Lee County.

This year, in an effort to step up their support, the firefighters have added the poker run in hope of reaching their ultimate goal for the year of $25,000.

We have been married for 40 years and this is our first new home. Of course we heard all the stories and received symapthy from well meaning friends regarding the perils of home building. Cape firefighters are preparing for their annual toy distribution for special needs children, an event Cape Coral Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management Services has held for nearly 20 years, according to public education assistant David Webster.

Webster said firefighters, a.k.a. Cape Fire Department “elves,” are in the process of purchasing and wrapping presents for the families of children who suffer health disabilities such as cancer, autism, juvenile diabetes and Down syndrome.
