Cape Coral, FL – The American Cancer Society’s Cape Coral Relay For Life event was held Friday and Saturday, April 4 & 5 at Mariner High School. Business partners Team Aubuchon and Storm Smart Industries worked together this year, to raise more than $10,000 to further the battle against this disease. The City of Cape Coral raised more than $140,000 for this cause.
Team leaders Steve Tarquinio of Team Aubuchon and Karen Dugas of Storm Smart Industries spearheaded this year’s efforts to raise money for Relay For Life. They were responsible for coordinating and working each event, recruiting participants, setting up and tear down, soliciting donations, and much more.
The funds were raised through a variety of activities including satellite poker tournaments, a Texas Hold’em poker tournament at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, a Rummage Sale at the Team Aubuchon building, internet donations, and donations for home-made food items at the Relay For Life booth. Storm Smart Industries owner and CEO, Brian Rist, was a key sponsor this year, donating $5000 for the Texas Hold’em tournament.
The opportunity to donate locks of hair to Locks of Love, an organization that donates hairpieces to children suffering from hair loss, was taken by Team Aubuchon’s Adrienne Pless who donated more than 10 inches of her hair. Adrienne is a cancer survivor.
